- Dear ODF fellows!
-
- In the EU-project Comspec we are developing a vocabulary part that can
- contain vocabulary items. Each item is itself a container part that can
- contain one or more representation parts. A representation may be a text
- part, a bitmap part, a sound part, a movie part etc. So far we have all
- these components as parts.
-
- But if a vocabulary contains 3-5 thousand items, each having say 10
- representations, will this work in practice? Or is there too much overhead
- in storing parts on disc and keeping parts in memory to be efficient at
- runtime? Our non-OpenDoc colleagues argue that the vocabulary part should
- access a database of representations instead? Any suggestions?
