  10. In the EU-project Comspec we are developing a vocabulary part that can
  11. contain vocabulary items. Each item is itself a container part that can
  12. contain one or more representation parts. A representation may be a text
  13. part, a bitmap part, a sound part, a movie part etc. So far we have all
  14. these components as parts.
  15.  
  16. But if a vocabulary contains 3-5 thousand items, each having say 10
  17. representations, will this work in practice? Or is there too much overhead
  18. in storing parts on disc and keeping parts in memory to be efficient at
  19. runtime? Our non-OpenDoc colleagues argue that the vocabulary part should
  20. access a database of representations instead? Any suggestions?
